Main Street Children’s Dentistry and Orthodontics
Welcome to Main Street Children’s Dentistry and Orthodontics of Clermont, your friendly, affordable dentists
Trips to the dentist’s office can be stressful for both parents and children. We recognize this and have designed our office to appeal to our young patients by using bright colors, toys, video games, chair-side televisions, and youthful designs. Since a positive and fun trip to the dentist can help shape a child’s lifelong attitude toward their dental hygiene, we’ve done our utmost to ensure that they develop a positive attitude toward their dental visits.
When Should I Take My Child to the Dentist?
We recommend that children begin to visit their pediatric dentist when they have a tooth or not later than one year old. This helps accustom them to the dental office experience, and our efforts will make sure that it’s a positive experience. We can also determine if their first tooth is erupting well or needs attention. Even though primary teeth will fall out, usually on their own, it’s essential that they erupt correctly. Our state-of-the-art equipment enables us to provide the best treatment possible to children of all ages as well as those with special needs. Most of our patients are between six months old and middle teenage years.
Our options for pediatric children’s dentistry treatments include:
- Checkups: Your child should have a dental checkup by the time they’re a year old. Your skilled pediatric dentist will examine your child’s teeth and gums for decay or disease and will recommend the best course of treatment.
- Cleaning: Your child should have their teeth professionally cleaned by the time they’re three years old. Regular cleanings will protect against decay and disease and begin their lifelong habit of good oral hygiene. Your dentist can recommend areas that need improvement and that will keep your child’s primary teeth healthy.
- Pediatric x-rays: The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry recommend that your child receive x-rays during their checkup so that their dentist can address any abnormalities before they escalate.
- Pediatric periodontics: Children, as well as adults, can develop periodontal disease due to their lifestyle habits. Your pediatric dentist can diagnose and treat gum disease and provide insight on preventing the disease in the future.
- Emergency pediatric dental services: If your child has a dental emergency, call our office without delay. Whether it’s a broken tooth, a severe toothache, a knocked-out tooth, or any other urgent dental need, be sure to call us without delay if your child has a dental emergency.
- Special needs: Not all dentists are trained in special needs dentistry, but we are. If your child has special needs and requires dental treatments, call our office for an appointment. We’re trained to accommodate all special needs, put your child at ease, and make them comfortable. We can also develop a personalized plan to help maintain your child’s unique needs and good dental health. If your special-needs child requires a quiet space for their procedure, let us know when you call to make the appointment.
- Dental anesthesia: Pediatric dental anesthesia is a specialty field that isn’t available at all dental offices. However, we’re specialists in pediatric dental anesthesia and determining the best type of anesthesia for your child. From toddler to teenager, we can provide some of the best possible dental treatment for your child, so give us a call.
- Hospitalization: Sometimes, pediatric dentistry needs to be performed at a hospital to ensure that the child receives the best and safest treatment possible. Our pediatric dentists work with your child’s pediatrician as well as oral surgeons and anesthesiologists to ensure that your child’s procedure has the best outcome.
Before we perform any pediatric dental services, we do a “show and tell” with our patients, so they know exactly what to expect throughout the procedure. We find this eliminates a lot of anxiety and stress on both the patient and the parent.
